Letran vs LPU, Perpetual vs EAC to open second round of NCAA Season 100 | NCAA Philippines

Colegio de San Juan de Letran will go against Lyceum of the Philippines University, while the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA will take on Emilio Aguinaldo College as the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament opens its second round on Friday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Knights are coming off a win, also against Lyceum of the Philippines University, as they closed their first round run with a 6-3 card. The Pirates, meanwhile, are at 4-5.

Unlike last season where the Knights were at 1-8 at the end of the first round, Letran is in a better position now heading into the second round. Still, head coach Allen Ricardo said their campaign still has a long way to go.

"Malayo pa, 6-3, hindi ka pa dadalhin sa Final Four. We still have nine games. Sa nine games, siguro hopefully maka-7 kami or 6 [wins]. [But with] the way things [are] around, grabe ang competition. Dikit-dikit ang teams," Ricardo said.

"You need to have sense of urgency when playing."

Letran and LPU will face off at 12 p.m.

The Generals, meanwhile, ended their Round 1 campaign with a win against San Sebastian College-Recoletos and improved to 4-5. The ALTAs, on the other hand, have an identical 4-5 win-loss card but hope to return to the win column as they ended Round 1 with a three-game losing skid.

"Every game is important. Every game is vital. We need to prepare for each game," EAC head coach Jerson Cabiltes said.

"We need to be excited for the second round kasi dito na lalabas 'yung months of preparations namin nung preseason."

The Perpetual-EAC match will commence at 2:30 p.m.
