San Sebastian not panicking yet despite five straight losses | NCAA Philippines

After opening its NCAA Season 100 campaign on a high with two straight wins, San Sebastian College-Recoletos have lost five straight games which put them at the bottom of the standings with 2-5.

Coach Arvin Bonleon, however, said the Stags are not panicking yet.

"Hindi naman, alam naman namin na rebuilding kami kasi nga undersized, underdogs, late preparation," Bonleon said when asked if they are in panic mode already.

"Sabi ko lang, tingnan namin ang game, lahat ng loss namin, buong game tingnan namin ang mali namin."

The Stags lost their games to San Beda (85-75), JRU (90-74), Arellano (73-87), Perpetual (60-52), and Mapua (91-72).

"[In] Offense, defense, we prepared. Conditioning, we prepared. Tingin ko it's on how we execute," Bonleon added.

The first year San Sebastian coach also noted how some of their players shine on top of the likes of Paeng Are and TJ Felebrico.

However, when their games go tight and it is already winning time, Bonleon said his players need to trust their defensive systems.

"Same problem sa mga talo namin, 'pag dumikit kami, nagkakanya-kanya. Kinausap naman namin lahat na [dapat] walang individual offense. Trust lang sa defense na prepared ng coaches."

While aware of the skid they are experiencing, the Stags will face league-leading De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Tuesday.

"Whether they like it or not, pagod kami, pero kailangan namin ng stamina to win every game kasi 'yun ang kailangan namin. Speed and stamina, and of course team work."
