NCAA Season 100

Benilde aims to bounce back in match vs streaking LPU | NCAA Philippines

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde is eyeing to return to the win column of NCAA Season 100 when they face streaking Lyceum of the Philippines University in NCAA Season 100 on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The Blazers (4-1) were dealt their first loss in the season by Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 71-69, while the Pirates (3-2) have been on a three-game winning streak.

"We need to play some good defense, be smarter and execute our offense," Benilde head coach Charles Tiu told GMA News Online when asked about their upcoming match against the Pirates.

"Lyceum is the best offensive team right now so we need to find ways to stop them. Other guys have to step up too."

As of Wednesday, the Intramuros-based squad is on top of the league in terms of made field goals with 43.93%.

The Pirates, meanwhile, are coming off a high as they defeated last season's runner up Mapua University, 96-81.

Head coach Gilbert Malabanan admitted that his players are confident, but they still need to work their way in games.

"Benilde is a team to beat dito sa NCAA but because of this win, medyo mataas din ang confidence namin ngayon. But hindi kami puwede magpakumpiyansa. Kailangan namin pagtrabahuhan lahat to get that win again," Malabanan said after their win against Mapua.

Prior to this, Mapua (3-2) and San Sebastian College-Recoletos (2-4) will face each other at 12 p.m.
