Despite four straight losses since Arellano University started its campaign in NCAA Season 100, head coach Chico Manabat said he is still proud of how his players played in every game.
The Chiefs had narrow losses against Emilio Aguinaldo College (87-80/OT), University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (69-67), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (86-79), and on Friday, against Lyceum of the Philippines University in another overtime, 90-86.
"I don't want to talk much pero tingnan na lang nila ang tawagan. Kitang-kita naman eh," Manabat told GMA News Online after the Chiefs' loss against the Pirates. "Sa'min hindi reason 'yun, pero it is what it is."
Manabat added that his players are still young and what's more important for the Arellano tactician is for his wards to play the right way.
"Ginagawa namin ang tamang way ng paglalaro and then bahala na si Lord kung saan kami dalhin," he said.
"Definitely, isang factor 'yun (youth) pero siyempre, you want to train sa mga ganyang level na kataas, pero saludo ako sa mga batang 'to, kahit hindi kami nananalo. It's not about winning, it's about good fight and the right way how to play good basketball and clean basketball."
Manabat added that once they get that first win, things might turn around for the Chiefs.
"Kami naman, we're looking forward na mabigyan kami ng panalo, dere-derechuhin namin," he said.
Arellano will next face San Sebastian College-Recoletos on Sunday noon.
