Letran, Mapua aim to extend streak; Arellano, LPU face off | NCAA Philippines

Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Mapua University are both aiming for win no. 3 in NCAA Season 100.

However, only one team will get it as the 'Battle of Intramuros' commences on Friday, 2:30 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Knights are continuing to find their form, especially as Pao Javillonar made a career-high 28 points against Arellano University in his return from suspension last Tuesday. Prior to this, Letran lost to San Sebastian College-Recoletos and won against Jose Rizal University.

The Cardinals also won back-to-back against Emilio Aguinaldo College and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA after losing their opener against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

Letran head coach Allen Ricardo is aware of who to watch out for when they face their fellow Intramuros-based crew.

"Mapua is one of the strongest teams this Season 100. Be ready for the physicality," Ricardo said.

"Clint Escamis is Clint Escamis, we need to limit him. 'Di naman talaga totally namin mai-stop yan so we'll just try to limit scorers of Mapua and baka meron kaming chance pagdating sa dulo."

Prior to the Letran-Mapua match, the winless Chiefs will take on Lyceum of the Philippines University at 12:00 p.m.

LPU, holding a 1-2 card, took win no. 1 against Jose Rizal University last September 15.
