LPU secures commitment of three Filipino-American cagers

Lyceum of the Philippines University got a huge boost after securing the commitment of three Filipino-American ballers as it continues to rebuild following the exit of several key players.

The Pirates have welcomed Desmond Pyne as well as transferees Jovan Abregana and RA Brucal.

Pyne, a 6-foot-5 forward who previously suited up for Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be eligible starting in NCAA Season 100 and is tipped to help fill the void left by Enoch Valdez, Shawn Umali, and Oman Omandac.

The 6-foot-3 Abregana, on the other hand, had already seen action in college ranks after having played for De Anza College while 5-foot-10 combo guard Brucal was coming off a stint at Seton Hall University.

Abregana and Brucal will sit out one year before being available in Season 101 next year.

“On behalf of LPU, we consider ourselves fortunate to have them on our team,” said Pirates head coach Gilbert Malabanan.

“They will be a significant part of our program in the years to come as we strive to create an environment where inspiration thrives and camaraderie flourishes."

The arrival of the trio would be a massive help for the Pirates, who were fresh off back-to-back Final Four appearances in Season 98 and 99.
