Acido explodes for triple-double as Perpetual thrashes JRU

Amiel Acido flexed his might to steer University of Perpetual Help System DALTA to a 102-84 beating of struggling Jose Rizal University in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Acido, one of frontrunners for the Most Valuable Player award, detonated for an impressive triple-double of 17 points, including a layup late in the third quarter that gave his side a 21-point lead at 79-58. He also had 18 rebounds and 10 assists as the Junior Altas bounced back from a previous loss to Mapua University to improve to 6-1. 

The Light Bombers, on the other hand, absorbed their back-to-back losses to go 2-5. 

Jan Pagulayan led all scorers with 24 points built on six triples together with five rebounds, four assists, and one block while Lebron Jhames Daep chipped in 16 markers, eight boards, one dime, and one steal. 

Paul Enal churned out 26 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and one assist in the losing effort while Juan Capistrano and Bien Pinzon chimed in with 14 and 12 markers apiece. 

Meanwhile, Mapua University used a strong fourth quarter to put Lyceum of the Philippines University away, 67-52, to grab its sixth win in seven games. 

With the win, the Red Robins forged a three-way tie once more with Letran and Perpetual at 6-1 while San Sebastian (5-2) and San Beda (4-3) were at solo fourth and solo fifth, respectively. 

Boboy Mangubat shone anew with a team-high 16 points while also grabbing five rebounds, two assists, and one steal while Nico Mulingtapang contributed 10 markers.
