Shawn Umali commits to transfer to Benilde; Mark Denver Omega comes home to Letran

After parting ways with their former schools, Shawn Umali and Mark Denver Omega have found their new homes in the NCAA.

Umali has committed to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde after three seasons with Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Omega, meanwhile, is coming back home to Colegio de San Juan de Letran, where he played for the Squires from NCAA Season 93 to 95.

Both players will serve residency and will be eligible to suit up in NCAA Season 101.

Omega will be a huge boost to the Knights' redemption bid following a gloomy campaign in Season 99 that saw the Muralla crew rack up just two wins in 18 games.

"Actually may mga ibang school pa [na] nag-offer sa akin pero pinili ko 'yung Letran kasi sobrang lapit nito sa puso ko at dito ako nagsimula. Binigyan din nila ako ng opportunities para maipakita ko 'yung talent ko as a student-athlete," Omega told GMA News Online.

(Actually other schools also sent their offers but I chose Letran because it's close to my heart and this is where I started. They also gave me opportunities to show my talent as a student-athlete.)

Omega became the latest player to jump ship from the ALTAs camp after Cyrus Nitura who has transferred to Emilio Aguinaldo College from Perpetual.

Over at Benilde, the 6-foot-3 Umali will join forces with Tony Ynot, Justine Sanchez, and Gab Cometa, all of whom are also transferees after parting ways with San Beda University.

Umali, the Season 98 Most Improved Player, could also help fill the void left by former MVP Will Gozum, who was instrumental in the Blazers' campaign in the last three seasons.
