Mapua University survived the late barrage from Jade Talampas and Arellano University to eke out an 84-75 win and extend its streak in the NCAA Season 99 on Friday.

Mapua, which is already assured of a Final Four spot and a twice-to-beat bonus, improved to 14-3 behind a five-game winning surge while also-ran Arellano dropped to 2-14.

Prior to that, Arellano stared at a 13-point disadvantage when JC Recto knocked down two baskets for a 75-62 cushion.

Momentum swung back to Mapua when Paolo Hernandez sank two free throws followed by a split from Escamis as the Cardinals’ lead ballooned to 82-73 in the final 29.7 ticks.
