Lyceum of the Philippines University and Mapua University both aim to keep their hold of the top spot in the NCAA Season 99 standings as they go against Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Sebastian College-Recoletos, respectively, on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
The Pirates are eyeing to extend their winning streak to four after emerging victorious against the Cardinals, 86-82, last Friday, despite Clint Escamis' career-high game. Gyle Montaño led the Pirates with 18 points as they improved to 9-3.
The Knights, despite being out of Final Four contention, hope to still get some wins in their six remaining games.
LPU and Letran will face each other 12 noon.
Mapua, meanwhile, hopes to return to the winning column as it takes on San Sebastian at 2 p.m. The Cardinals are also at the top of the standings with a 9-3 card, while San Sebastian aims to get their second straight win after taking down San Beda University last October 29.
San Beda (7-4) and Emilio Aguinaldo College (7-5) will open Sunday's triple-header at 10 am.
Both teams are trying to collect as many wins as possible to boost their bid for a Final Four slot. The Red Lions currently place fourth while the Generals are at the sixth spot behind Jose Rizal University.
