Perpetual bounces back at JRU's expense

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA took down Jose Rizal University, 72-61, in NCAA Season 99 on Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

After trailing 19-16 at the end of the first quarter, the ALTAs outscored the Heavy Bombers in the second frame, 24-11, to take a 43-27 lead at the end of the first half. This was enough for the Perpetual to take control of the game despite JRU's 21-point output in the final frame.

In the first half, Perpetual's Jasper Cuevas and JRU's Ryan Arenal were called separately for disqualifying fouls after incidents involving Sydney Mosqueda and Angelo Gelsano, respectively.

The win came after their 77-73 loss to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

Jun Roque drilled four triples en route to a 17-point outing, while Christian Pagaran had 15 points as the ALTAs improved to 5-7 and stay in the hunt for a Final Four slot.

Joshua Guiab was the only double-digit scorer for the Heavy Bombers with 10 points on top of 10 rebounds as JRU slipped to the fifth spot with 8-5.
