Mapua looks to bounce back in clash vs. Letran; Lyceum, EAC eye back-to-back wins

League-leading Mapua University will look to get a rebound win when it takes on embattled Colegio de San Juan de Letran while Lyceum of the Philippines University and Emilio Aguinaldo College will try to book their second win in a row on Saturday in NCAA Season 99.

Mapua and Letran will square off at 3 p.m. with the Cardinals eyeing to bounce back from a previous loss to Benilde while Lyceum and EAC will lock horns at 9:30 a.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Mapua had been rolling in the tournament but its six-game winning streak came to a stunning end last Wednesday after the Blazers pulled off a 65-61 shocker behind veterans Miggy Corteza and Will Gozum.

Despite the uncharacteristic loss, the Cardinals still got hold of the top spot with an 8-2 win-loss card.

They will try to get back to their winning ways, but standing in their way are the hungry Knights, who have dropped their two previous games ever since copping their breakthrough win against San Sebastian last October 18.

In the opening game, both Lyceum and EAC will look to get another streak going for their respective sides.

The Pirates are coming off a 99-96 overtime victory against Jose Rizal University which saw team captain Enoch Valdez and guard Greg Cunanan take charge. The win halted Lyceum's three-game skid as they improved to 7-3.

EAC, on the other hand, staged a massive comeback against San Sebastian last Tuesday where veterans Ralph Robin and JP Maguliano put together stellar performances to lift the Generals to an 80-77 victory.

EAC is currently tied with Benilde at 6-4.
