Marwin Dionisio dropped 21 points as Jose Rizal University dismantled Arellano University, 88-72, on Saturday in NCAA Season 99.
The Heavy Bombers capped their first round campaign at 6-3 while the Chiefs dropped to 1-8.
JRU started strong as it outscored Arellano, 33-18, in the first quarter before eventually ending the first half at 54-36.
The Heavy Bombers led by as much as 25 points, 83-58, after Joshua Guiab made a triple at the 4:32 mark of the fourth period before eventually taking the win.
On top of Dionisio's season-high scoring output, the JRU forward had four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Agem Miranda had 15 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and a steal, while Shawn Argente also chipped in 15 points.
Ry dela Rosa also made his return for the Heavy Bombers, his first since opening day, but was limited to three minutes of action.
The Mandaluyong-based squad played sans head coach Louie Gonzales as he attended his child's graduation.
Dani Mallari had 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals for Arellano, while Jade Talampas had 14 points, seven boards, an assist, and a steal.
JRU will be back in action on Tuesday for the second round when they face Lyceum of the Philippines University. Arellano University, on the other hand, will go against San Beda University on Friday.
