Yukien Andrada detonates as San Beda rips San Sebastian

San Beda University rode on a strong second half outing from Yukien Andrada to roll past skidding San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 76-53, and extend its surge in the NCAA Season 99 on Friday.

The Red Lions became the hottest team next to league-leading Mapua University to improve to 6-2 behind a three-game winning streak. The Stags, meanwhile, dropped to 3-6.

Down by one at the half, San Beda started to pull away when Andrada, who was held scoreless after first two quarters, detonated in the third, firing three triples as they built a 48-40 cushion.

That further widened to 19 after another long bomb from Andrada, 63-44, in the fourth. Emman Tagle and JV Gallego also played a crucial role in that 15-4 rampage to open the payoff period.

Andrada buried another triple to make it a 68-51 spread en route to the win.

Andrada finished with 16 points, all scored in the second half, to go along with eight rebounds, two steals, and one block while Jomel Puno had another double-double outing of 16 markers and 11 boards.

Big man Clifford Jopia also put together a big game, flirting with a double-double outing of nine markers and 11 boards.
