Mapua University is out to further intensify its already-impressive NCAA Season 99 campaign when it takes on sliding Arellano University with its four-game winning streak at stake.
The Cardinals will slug it out with the Chiefs at 2 p.m. to be followed by the clash of San Sebastian College-Recoletos and still winless defending champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran at 4 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Mapua is pumped up heading to the game after having won their past four games against Benilde, EAC, Letran, and Lyceum with rookie Clint Escamis anchoring their offense and defense as they stole the top spot from the Pirates at 6-1.
Escamis has been nothing short of impressive for the Cardinals, averaging a team-high 15.29 points on top of 5.57 rebounds, 5.57 assists, 4.29 steals, and 0.29 blocks to help Mapua continue to make its case as a contender this season.
They will try to make it five wins in a row against an Arellano side hungry for a bounce back win.
The Chiefs are coming off back-to-back losses against EAC and Benilde that came on the heels of a huge 87-80 victory against the Knights last October 8.
In the second game, San Sebastian is hoping to book its second win in a row against a woeful Letran camp.
The Stags recently pulled off a decisive 86-70 triumph over EAC behind the hot hands of Raymart Escobido and the veteran presence of Jessie Sumoda as they improved to 3-4.
The Knights, on the other hand, are out to end its seven-game slump that put them in the last spot of the team standings at 0-7.
