Jun Roque proved his ability to lead on both ends, steering University of Perpetual Help System DALTA to a 74-59 win over Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the NCAA Season 99 on Sunday.
Roque tallied 22 points, highlighted by four three-pointers in the pivotal fourth quarter, alongside 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Perpetual copped back-to-back wins to improve to 3-4 while keeping defending champion Letran winless in seven games.
The ALTAs turned things around in the third with veteran guard Jielo Razon and sophomore Roque combining for five triples while Christian Pagaran’s back-to-back buckets saw Perpetual took a 44-39 lead before the fourth.
Prior to that, Perpetual trailed 25-21 following a low-scoring affair in the first half, where they shot just 24.3 percent from the field.
In the fourth, Roque buried two consecutive long bombs as Perpetual’s lead ballooned to 14 with 3:50 left to spare, 63-49.
Roque and Razon then nailed two dagger threes to put the finishing kick for the ALTAs as the Knights’ first win remained elusive.
Razon chipped in 12 points, three rebounds, and four assists while Christian Pagaran chimed in with 12 markers on top of five boards, three steals, and two blocks.
Perpetual will look to build on this momentum when it takes on San Beda University on Tuesday while hopes to end its slump on Wednesday against San Sebastian.
