Jose Rizal University put an end to Emilio Aguinaldo College’s winning streak, eking out a hard-fought 77-71 win on Wednesday in the NCAA Season 99 men's basketball tournament.

Agem Miranda scored 20 points to lead the way for JRU, the second time he reached the 20-point mark this season. He also notched four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Marwin Dionisio added 15 points, seven boards, six dimes, and two blocks while Joshua Guiab finished with 13 markers and a game-high nine rebounds.

JRU has now won two of its last three games to improve to 3-1 while EAC fell to 2-1.

Miranda, who poured in 13 of his overall put in the first half, drilled a basket that sent the Heavy Bombers to a 63-55 lead in the final quarter.

Lefty gunner Ralph Robin’s back-to-back long bombs cut the Generals’ deficit to four, 67-63, as JRU big man Joshua Guiab fouled out with 5:59 left.

Jonathan Medina then instigated a 7-0 run, which Robin quickly countered with four straight points for a 74-67 affair.

Veteran guard JL Delos Santos, though, put the game away as he nailed a layup before he split his freebies.

EAC was led by Nat Cosejo’s 15 points and nine rebounds while Robin finished with 12, 10 of those in the fourth quarter.
