Perpetual bests San Beda in Game 3, completes NCAA men's volleyball three-peat

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA regained its top form, defeating San Beda University in Game 3 of the finals, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22 to reign supreme in the NCAA Season 98 men’s volleyball tournament on Sunday.

The ALTAs, who lost in Game 2 just two days ago, clinched their third straight title and 13th overall in the men’s division.

Season 98 MVP Louie Ramirez once again steered the ship for the ALTAs, drilling three straight attacks to bring them to a 22-17 lead in Set 2.

Ramirez, whose cramps late in Game 2 forced him to ride the bench for most of the last two sets, got enough help from his teammates as KC Andrade completed a combination play to give Perpetual a 2-0 set lead, 25-20.

In the third set, the Red Spikers unleashed a 5-0 rampage capped by a net fault from Perpetual’s Jeff Marapoc as they tied things up at 13-all before back-to-back points from Ramirez sent the ALTAs to a 16-14 cushion.

But San Beda ended the set with a 6-3 run to extend the match.

Perpetual made sure not to commit the same mistake it had in the previous game, building a comfortable 16-11 cushion after a Ramirez cross court kill en route to the championship.

Ramirez shone with a triple-double of 26 points built on 23 attacks, two blocks, and one ace along with 13 digs and 21 excellent receptions while Michael Medalla and Andrade dropped 12 markers each to help the cause.
