Bismarck Lina transfers to San Beda after two seasons with UP

After seeing a number of players leave the den, San Beda University has secured the transfer of one of the country's budding young cagers as Bismarck Lina decided to move from the University of the Philippines to join the Red Lions.

San Beda team manager Jude Roque confirmed the news, saying Lina will be a big addition to the team especially after the departure of some of their players like Tony Ynot, Rhayyan Amsali, and JB Bahio.

"It's a win-win for both Bismarck and our team," Roque said in a message to GMA Integrated News.

"We will need a player like him next year and he has been waiting for the opportunity to play a major role. I believe that was what convinced him to move to us."

Lina, a former star for the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, was part of Fighting Maroons' Season 84 championship team but only played sparingly for the Goldwin Monteverde-mentored team. He also logged limited minutes in Season 85, where UP fell to Ateneo de Manila University in the finals.

At San Beda, Lina could bolster a team that already features the likes of Yukien Andrada, Jacob Cortez, and Gab Cometa as they look to bring the school to the top again.

Lina still has three playing years left and could start donning the red and white starting NCAA Season 100.
