San Beda survives tight fourth set vs EAC, stays alive in Stepladder Final Four

San Beda University stayed alive in the NCAA Season 98 men’s volleyball Stepladder Final Four after eking out a 25-22, 25-27, 25-16, 26-24 win against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Joshua Ramilo came alive for the Generals in the crucial fourth set to try to turn things around for EAC, drilling a backrow attack for a 13-11 cushion.

Back-to-back errors from San Beda saw EAC lead by one, 21-20, before two consecutive infractions from the Generals gave the Red Lions a 23-22 cushion.

Jan Abor’s powerful attack from the opposite sent EAC to the first set point, 24-23, but three straight points capped by Ralph Cabalsa’s hammer.

The first-year Cabalsa starred with a game-high 24 points built on 19 attacks, four blocks, and one service ace to send San Beda to the next round of the stepladder.

Kenrod Umali chipped in 13 while Justine Santos, Lorenz Calayag, and Ryan Rosman each finished with 11 markers.

San Beda will next face second seed Arellano University in bid to book a ticket to the finals where i defeated University of Perpetual Help Syatem DALTA is already awaiting.
