Letran's Andy Gemao named NCAA Finals MVP

Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Andy Gemao was named the Finals MVP of the Squires' title run in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball tournament following their 77-61 win over College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Green Hills in Game 2 on Thursday.

Gemao averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in the best-of-three finals, which they swept, 2-0.

He exploded for 21 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists in Game 1 before turning in a solid performance with 14 markers, five boards, and two assists in the series-clinching second game.

The Squires' star was earlier named to the season's Mythical Five, alongside Finals opponents Luis Pablo and Seven Gagate of LSGH, Matthew Rubico of Lyceum, Perpetual's Amiel Acido, and San Beda's Chris Hubilla.

He was ranked #4 on the NBTC 24, the National Basketball Training Center's list of top high school players in the country.
