Lyceum of the Philippines made it three wins in a row after sweeping Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-15, 25-20, 25-17, in the NCAA Season 98 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
Lyceum, which was coming off back-to-back victories against San Beda University and Emilio Aguinaldo College, improved to 6-2 to bolster its Final Four chances.
Letran, on the other hand, slipped to 4-4 as its chances for a playoff seat dimmed.
Joan Doguna continued to shine for the Lady Pirates, drilling back-to-back kills to put Lyceum to a an 11-6 cushion before Letran countered with a 6-1 run led by Juls Castro to cut its deficit to one, 12-11.
Letran unleashed another rally with Daisy Melendres serving up an ace for a 15-14 deficit, but a Zonxi Dahab quick sent Lyceum to a two-point advantage in the second TTO.
Another two consecutive attacks from Doguna and a one-two play from setter Venice Puzon made it a 21-16 upper hand for the Lady Pirates. Jaja Tulang’s ace sealed it for Lyceum as they sent Letran to the brink.
Doguna finished with 15 points while Jaja Tulang churned out nine markers highlighted by the game-winning point. Johna Dolorito addrd nine markers as well as Jewel Maligmat chipped in seven markers alongside 10 digs.
Cha Cuñada and Judiel Nitura paced Letran with six points apiece.
