Paul Enal's 20-rebound double-double lifts JRU past host EAC

Youngster Paul Enal churned out a double-double to lift Jose Rizal University to a 70-58 victory over host Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball tournament on Wednesday at the latter's homecourt at the EAC Gym.

Enal grabbed a game-high 20 rebounds on top of 12 points, three assists, and two blocks while Zairose Mina chipped in 13 markers, seven boards, one dime, and one steal as the Light Bombers improved to 1-0 early in the tournament.

EAC, however, joined La Salle Green Hills, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, and Arellano University at the bottom with a 0-1 card.

Three straight free throws from the Brigadiers cut their deficit to single digits, 66-58, with 2:49 left to play in the fourth before big man Enal knocked down a crucial basket down low to give JRU a 68-58 cushion.

Lee Marin then drove to the basket to complete the win for the Bombers, 70-58, with 1:02 left in the clock.

The loss spoiled Lance Dungo's 17 points, six rebounds, and one assist for EAC.
