EAC taps Jerson Cabiltes as Generals' new head coach

The Emilio Aguinaldo College men's basketball team has a new head coach.

Jerson Allen Cabiltes has been tapped as the new head coach of the Generals and will replace Oliver Bunyi.

Cabiltes confirmed the development on Wednesday

"I just got my appointment a while ago, kaninang lunch time, we met with President [Dr. Jose Paulo] Campos," Cabiltes told GMA Integrated News in a phone call.

Cabiltes said he will meet with the team on Thursday morning.

"Tomorrow, I'm gonna first observe the practice tomorrow kasi may natira pa kaming assistant coach which is Coach Ariel Sison, so I would want to look at the players first sa practice," added the new EAC coach.

Cabiltes will take over an EAC Generals team without its main big man Allen Liwag, who committed to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. In NCAA Season 98, EAC placed last in the standings with a record of three wins and 15 losses.

"It's a very big challenge. Sometimes 'di ba, 'yan ang gusto natin. Siguro, I'm just up to the task to bring EAC to its first Final Four appearance, so we just need to work hard on it this upcoming preseason."

Cabiltes previously held the Basilan team which, under his belt, won in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup, and had championships for Basilan and Nueva Ecija in the MPBL.
