De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde head coach Charles Tiu admitted that the Blazers are now among the suitors of young big man Allen Liwag, who left Emilio Aguinaldo College after two seasons.

Tiu shared he learned from Liwag's management that the 6-foot-6 slotman has bid the Generals goodbye, prompting him to initiate the talks.

But the tactician said Liwag has yet to give any commitment as of the moment, but stressed Liwag could be an asset for the Taft crew who finished as runner-up in NCAA Season 98.

"No initial commitment yet but [I] definitely think he can fill in the void to be left by Will (Gozum) and (Miggy) Corteza," Tiu told GMA Integrated News on Saturday, just hours after Liwag's exit from EAC was announced.

"We heard from their management group that he was leaving EAC and being recruited by two other schools. So we asked if we could speak with him."

Should Liwag commit to the green and white, he will have to serve a one-year residency and will only get to play in Season 100. By then, he will have to fill in the shoes to be left by Season 98 MVP Will Gozum, who played a huge role in Benilde's magical run in the previous season that saw them end a decades-long drought from the Final Four.

And Tiu is hoping Liwag would opt to play for them despite getting interest from other schools.

"I would hope he would choose to go to us."
