Pao Javillonar issues apology following incident with Will Gozum | NCAA Philippines

Colegio de San Juan de Letran big man Paolo Javillonar has issued an apology following an incident involving him and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Will Gozum.

The Knights forward was earlier reprimanded by league officials after he grabbed Gozum’s sensitive parts in Game 1 of Letran and Benilde’s best-of-three Finals series last December 4.

Javillonar acknowledged the consequences of his action, but said there was no malice intended, saying it was just a gesture of gamesmanship.

“I am writing you this letter to sincerely apologize for the impolite gesture that I have displayed towards Mr. Will Allen Gozum,” Javillonar wrote.

“Given my intense defensive mindset, nilagay ko lang ‘yung kamay ko sa kanya to prevent a backdoor play or maka-score siya sa akin. No malice was intended.”

Gozum earlier previously said he wasn’t happy with Javillonar’s antics.

For his part, Javillonar vowed not to let the same incident happen again in the future, especially that the Knights are looking to cop their third straight title.

“I am sincerely apologizing to the NCAA family and to everyone offended by my actions,” Javillonar added.

“This has been a teaching and learning moment for me. Be rest assured that I would not let this happen again.”
