On Saturday, Colegio de San Juan de Letran came out better than during its previous game — a tough loss against rival San Beda University.
According to assistant coach Raymund Tiongco, the Knights' decision to share and move the ball proved crucial as they cruised to a 74-58 win over Mapua University in NCAA Season 98 action.
"Nag-adjust lang kami sa nangyari sa amin last game sa San Beda na hindi talaga kami nakapag-execute nang maayos. So ngayon, mas maganda 'yung ball movement and and ball sharing namin, pinakamataas 'yung assist namin na 26 kaya siguro nanalo kami," Tiongco, who took up the coaching mantle as Bonnie Tan was out under health and safety protocols.
"We work on that, 'yung pag-ikot ng bola and finding the open guy."
Three-peat seeking Letran notched 26 assists with guards Kurt Reyson and Brent Paraiso each dishing out six while Mapua was limited to just nine dimes.
The Knights' unselfishness was also displayed in the last seconds when Reyson dished out the leather to Louie Sangalang, who then completed a three-point play opportunity to put the game to bed.
"Peaking at the right time naman sila, kailangan lang maging consistent at maging mature pa pagdating sa dulo. Nung sa dulo naman, we gave good extra passes," Tiongco added.
