Shane Menina vowed to leave everything on the floor in his last few days in the collegiate ranks with Arellano University in NCAA Season 98.
The veteran guard shared he is planning to make the jump to the professional level, and he is out to use the Chiefs’ last two games as a springboard for that lifelong dream.
“Ipapakita ko lang ‘yung best ko kasi may balak ako sa pro. Dapat i-improve ko ‘yung depensa ko kasi sa pro, depensa talaga eh,” Menina said.
“‘Yung last two games namin i-grab ko na manalo kami doon para maganda ‘yung exit ko kasi pangit naman kung puro talo.”
Menina did just that after steering Arellano to an 86-81 win over University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Tuesday as they fought for pride.
The 25-year-old Menina was on target, finishing with an all-around statline of 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals. The seasoned court general is hoping to repeat or even surpass that when they take on their last two assignments for the season.
Arellano will still play Final Four-bound De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Sunday before closing its Season 98 campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo College on November 22.
Arellano head coach Cholo Martin was also supportive of Menina’s plans of joining next season’s PBA Draft.
“‘Yung last time na nag-usap kami, may intention sa mag-pro and sabi ko, suportahan ka namin dyan kung ano man ‘yung plano mo,” Martin said.
“May two games pa naman so ipakita mo ‘yung laro mo.”
