The Philippine Sports Commission said it will form a fact-finding committee to probe the incident between Jose Rizal University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde last Tuesday.
The sports body on Friday said chairman Noli Eala aired his view saying that violence has no place in sports and fair play is one of the pillars of the sporting community. With this, Eala instructed the body to convene a committee to investigate "all facts and circumstances surrounding the incident."
In a resolution filed regarding the incident, the said probe will determine the “appropriate actions to be taken by the Commission on all those who may have been involved in the incident.”
PSC has authority on amateur sports, including collegiate leagues like the NCAA.
The sports agency will invite representatives from the NCAA, JRU, Benilde, venue Filoil EcoOil Centre, and other parties involved in the incident. PSC said Eala himself will lead the inquiry.
Earlier, Benilde's Jimboy Pasturan and Taine Davis filed a complaint against JRU's Amores citing physical injuries as violation.
The NCAA already slapped sanctions on players involved in the scuffle, with Amores getting an indefinite suspension from the league. JRU also slapped the same sanction on Amores, and apologized for the incident.
