Rhinwill Yambing stamped his class on the game as he steered San Sebastian College-Recoletos to a 92-74 drubbing of six-man Jose Rizal University in NCAA Season 98 on Friday.
Yambing scored 36 points built around 11-for-15 shooting from three-point range and grabbed 10 rebounds in a dominant performance for the Stags.
He scored 35 points through three quarters before getting a lift from his teammates to close out the fourth.
San Sebastian improved to 6-7 while embattled JRU slid to its third straight losses to drop to 6-8.
Yambing waxed hot from deep early, dropping six three-pointers on seven attempts in the first half as the Stags built an 18-point lead.
JRU put up a fight early, even tying the game at 17-all late in the first period, but San Sebastian leaned to its outside shooting with Yambing powering their 25-point second quarter production as the Stags held a 48-30 halftime lead.
Agem Miranda and reserve player Jed Meracod led the Heavy Bombers with nine points apiece at the break, but they could not contain San Sebastian's torrid shooting.
Yambing then went a perfect 5-for-5 on long bombs in the third as San Sebastian’s lead ballooned to a high of 25 before ending it at 74-53.
But that was cut down to just 15 early in the fourth with Miranda sinking both his freebies, 74-59.
The Stags, though, made sure to finish what they started with guys like Romel Calahat, Alex Desoyo, and Jessie Sumoda making plays.
JRU was playing sans 11 players, who were suspended at least one game each following the John Amores incident last Tuesday against Benilde.
