JRU hoping win over EAC can start another streak — just like in first round

Jose Rizal University's first win of the season came at the expense Emilio Aguinaldo College, as the Heavy Bombers beat the Generals, 97-74, last September 11—a victory that ignited a five-game winning streak for the Heavy Bombers.

JRU, however, lost momentum following an 18-day break from NCAA action due to health and safety protocols. They then absorbed three straight losses to fall to an even 5-5 win-loss card.

On Friday, though, the embattled Heavy Bombers repeated over EAC with a 61-60 escape off a game-winning basket from Agem Miranda.

And they hope they can use that as a stepping stone to start another streak in NCAA Season 98.

"Para sa akin talaga ito 'yung stepping stone namin kasi katulad nung first round, sila rin 'yung una naming natalo tapos after namin sila matalo, nag-continue na 'yung panalo namin," said Miranda.

"Kaya before ng game kanina, sabi namin wala talaga dapat magpapatalo sa amin and ibigay 'yung best namin."

JRU has a tough road ahead, as the wards of head coach Louie Gonzalez are facing a compact schedule with their next game scheduled immediately on Sunday against Arellano University.
