Rookie San Beda coach Yuri Escueta knows that his job isn't just about the final score of games.
Also important to him is to be able to guide his players in playing basketball "the right way", with a focus on having a good attitude.
"I'm not just here to win games. Of course, being in San Beda you have to win games but you also have to teach these guys also the proper way to play basketball, the discipline and the attitude," said Escueta on the heels of their 76-63 win over Arellano University on Wednesday.
"Importante sa amin 'yung values."
Escueta, who also sits as one of TNT's assistant coaches in the PBA, is expecting his players, especially the veterans, to contribute more in their bid to make the Final Four and the championship round.
This way, Escueta believes his players will be prepared for wherever they go in the future.
"I told them that bigger responsibility lies with them, so they play most of the minutes and they get most of the touches," he added.
"One of the reasons kasi na nandito ako is to be able to help these guys play basketball the right way that they can bring wherever they go to in the future."
"'Di ako nafu-frustrate sa kanila, sa sarili ko kasi ibig sabihin 'di ko pa sila naturuan ng tama."
