Rhinwill Yambing had a game to remember on Friday, steering San Sebastian College-Recoletos past Jose Rizal University in the NCAA Season 98.
The rookie high-flyer dropped a career-high 17 points in 18 minutes of action, four rebounds, and two steals as the Stags eke out a 72-68 win over the Heavy Bombers.
But head coach Egay Macaraya is confident that there's more to come from Yambing.
"Well, 'yun naman talaga ang binibigay ni Yambing sa team, 'yung instant offense and this time, nag-step up talaga siya and hindi lang sa akin, lahat ng teammates niya binibigyan talaga siya ng go-signal," Macaraya said.
"Alam naman natin kaya niyang gawin so I think in the long run, mas grabe pa ang makikita niyo from Yambing."
Yambing was averaging 7.13 points and 3.25 rebounds prior to this game.
While he's playing under the shadow of his veterans, the 6-foot-3 cager said he's still getting the feel of the NCAA stage after being on the reserve list the past two seasons for San Sebastian.
"Actually fini-feel ko pa 'yung NCAA kasi ilang years din akong naging reserve and this is the right time na binigyan ako ng chance ni coach to show my talent and kung ano man 'yung matutulong ko sa team, ibibigay ko," the 23-year-old Yambing added.
