Ry Dela Rosa had his best game so far this season, dropping a career-high 26 points on 6-of-10 from the three-point area against the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Wednesday.
His numbers, however, weren't enough as Jose Rizal University faltered in its return from 18 days of inactivity, falling to the Blazers, 92-79, to snap their five-game winning streak.
"I’m still kinda lost for words. I would say I’m thankful that my shots are falling, but at the same time, it doesn’t really mean much if you don’t get the win," Dela Rosa said.
But the veteran gunner will take all the positives from this loss, in which they saw three of their key players, JL Delos Santos, Jason Celis, and Ryan Arenal, sit out.
"But I think that for me, all throughout the season I was kind of struggling. So, I’m glad that my hard work is kind of paying off now," he added.
"And I’ll continue to do that for myself and for my team as well."
The JRU team captain also admitted that their long layoff played a huge factor in the game as it was their first game back since October 8, or when they pulled off an upset of Lyceum of the Philippines University.
"That played a big factor. It was tough to get the feel of the court, get the feel of the environment again, but I think you know after today, we have nothing to do but keep our heads high ‘cause I think we played pretty well in my eyes," he said.
"But, still, there’s a lot to work on."
