EAC's Nat Cosejo dedicates breakout games to late mother

Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Nat Cosejo has been putting on some big performances for his team on the basketball court.

But this recent breakout happens to coincide with a difficult time for him, as the player is dealing with the recent passing of his mother Nimfa, who passed after a years-long battle with lung cancer.

"'Yung mother ko kasi may cancer siya, stage four. October 3 siya bale nung namatay, umuwi ako," Cosejo shared to GMA News Online.

"One week mahigit ako hindi nag-train kaya nung sa Mapua at Perpetual, hindi ako nakalaro. Nakabalik lang ako bale nung sa Letran."

Despite this, Cosejo scored a career-high 24 points on 11-for-17 shooting and grabbed nine boards in an 80-75 upset of top seed De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Sunday, the first win for EAC in NCAA Season 98.

On Wednesday, he continued the trend as he posted a new career-best with 26 points, alongside six rebounds and four assists, though the Generals failed to pick up the win against the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 79-73.

In the GMA NCAA All-Star Basketball Game last Saturday, the EAC General also emerged as the All-Star Game MVP after posting 16 points and seven rebounds in the showcase.

Cosejo, a fourth-year player, said he wanted to make the most of his career in the NCAA in honor of his mother.

"Lagi kong iniisip na i-dedicate lagi sa kanya 'yung mga games ko."
