San Beda University bounced back with a statement win following a tough loss last Tuesday, routing a hapless Arellano University side by 35 points, 96-61, in NCAA Season 98 on Friday.
James Kwekuteye and JB Bahio each contributed 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the way as three other Red Lions reached double-figures in scoring.
Tony Ynot, Justine Sanchez, and Jacob Cortez added 11, 10, and 10 points, respectively.
San Beda, who absorbed a loss to Jose Rizal University in their previous game, improved to 5-2. Arellano, meanwhile, dropped to an even 4-4 slate.
The Red Lions showed no mercy in the first half, erecting a 34-point lead at one point, 55-21, with veteran gunner Kwekuteye and young guns Ynot and Yukien Andrada leading the way.
San Beda limited Arellano to just nine points in the first quarter before it outscored the Chiefs, 26 to 14, in the second period to take a comfortable 55-23 halftime lead.
Arellano never threatened a comeback since that point on with the Mendiola crew unleashing 29 huge points in the third for an 84-33 cushion.
San Beda's biggest lead of the game stood at 51 points.
The lopsided win will boost San Beda’s morale heading into its match against league leader De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Sunday.
Arellano will next face Lyceum of the Philippines University on Tuesday.
