The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Sunday clarified its decision on Mapua University player Gab Gamboa after it was ruled that the Cardinals' first game was forfeited.
In a statement released on Sunday, the league said "Relative thereto the NCAA Management Committee (ManCom) hereby clarifies that no decision has been made as to the penalty to be imposed on him."
The ManCom said their decision was that Gamboa was deemed ineligible since he was enrolled in another school, thus forfeiting the Cardinals' first game against San Beda.
"Further, with regard to the effect on eligibility, we maintain that the NCAA Basketball Commissioner merely interpreted the matter in accordance with the NCAA Rule Book," the league said. "Finally, the NCAA has yet to decide on the sanction against Mr. Gamboa."
Mapua remained winless in seven games after their loss against Arellano University earlier today.
