Mapua University is now pushing the panic button after the team fell to a 1-4 hole to start the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament.
According to Mapua gunner Paolo Hernandez, their tough start to the season is something that worries the team, especially with their redemption bid off an NCAA Finals heartbreak last season now in danger.
"Panic mode na kami kasi 1-4, mahirap na makabangon pero 'yun nga, tuloy-tuloy lang," said Hernandez, who finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists in their latest loss against Letran on Tuesday.
"Sana sa next game mapanalo na namin."
Mapua is struggling heavily in Season 98 since opening their campaign with a 66-55 over San Beda University.
They have lost their next four games, falling to Lyceum of the Philippines University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, and Letran to sit at the second to last in the standings.
But Hernandez said they are not losing hope as they continue their campaign on Friday against Jose Rizal University.
"Hindi namin masasagot 'yan kasi bilog 'yung bola eh, lahat pwedeng mangyari and lahat ng teams competitive," Hernandez said.
"Lahat gustong manalo and hindi na namin hawak 'yung resulta eh. Ginagawa lang namin ay all out kami and kung anuman maging resulta, tatanggapin namin pero sa dulo babawi at babawi kami."
