Early loss to Benilde fueling Lyceum's drive as Pirates now on a three-game streak

Lyceum of the Philippines University didn't quite open its NCAA Season 98 campaign the way they liked, absorbing an 86-69 loss to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde last September 11.

But instead of sulking over that defeat, Lyceum decided to use it as inspiration moving forward.

Fast forward a little over a week and the Pirates are now on a three-game winning streak after picking up wins against no easy teams in Mapua University, San Beda University, and Emilio Aguinaldo College for a 3-1 card.

"Unang-una galing 'to sa CSB game eh. Nung CSB game talagang, ewan ko, siguro first game jitters. Kanya-kanyang biyahe talaga kami eh," shared Mclaude Guadaña, who powered them past EAC on Tuesday.

"So after that game, ayun na 'yung laging nakasulat sa board namin--trust the system, trust the coaches, trust the teammates."

Lyceum is trying to make its case as a Final Four contender, but sophomore Guadaña said they will take it one game at a time as they still have a long way to go in the double-round tournament.

"Siguro that's the goal pero may mas maliit kami na goal, which is 'yung one game at a time siguro. Big credits talaga sa mga biglang nagse-step up," said Guadaña, who top-scored with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in their 74-67 triumph of the Generals.

"Masarap sa pakiramdam na manalo, maraming sumusuporta at the same time, gumaganda 'yung samahan namin."
