De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Tuesday remained unbeaten with a 3-0 start, the only team left without a loss in the NCAA Season 98.
But Benilde head coach Charles Tiu stressed it's still too early to say whether their squad is Final Four material with at least 15 more games to play.
"I wouldn't say yet, it's only been three games and we have a long way to go," Tiu said on the heels of their emphatic 81-64 win over University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.
The Blazers have lived up to the hype so far, pulling off an 86-69 victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University to jumpstart their bid before turning back San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 100-94, to go 2-0 early.
Even with the way his wards are playing, though, Tiu said they have a long road ahead of them with Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Mapua University, and San Beda University still the favorites.
"We haven't played Letran, Mapua, San Beda—the three teams that I said consistently would be in the Final Four."
Still, the young tactician said it's a positive development that Benilde is getting its rhythm early in the tournament.
"So it's still a long way to go for us, but at least we're playing better. It's in the back of our minds that this (Perpetual) team eliminated us last season so we wanted to kind of get back."
