Letran opens three-peat bid vs JRU; Mapua goes for 2-0 against Lyceum

Games today:
12 pm - JRU vs Letran
3 pm - Lyceum vs Mapua

Colegio de San Juan de Letran finally opens its bid for a three-peat when it collides with Jose Rizal University on Wednesday in the NCAA Season 98 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The reigning back-to-back champions clash with the Heavy Bombers at 12 p.m. while last season's runner-up Mapua University will go for its second straight win against Lyceum of the Philippines University at 3 p.m.

Letran was supposed to be making its season debut in the opening day last Saturday against host Emilio Aguinaldo College, but health and safety protocols forced the squad to sit out.

And with a depleted roster, head coach Bonnie Tan is expecting other guys to step up.

"Of course mahirap but again it's going to be a big challenge for all the players, yung mga veteran players natin sa team."

Meanwhile, Mapua is hoping the momentum sticks to their side following an opening day win against San Beda University last Saturday as the Cardinals face the Pirates, who are coming off an 86-69 loss to College of Saint Benilde last Sunday.

For the Intramuros side, head coach Randy Alcantara said they are hoping to have the players recover, especially with a tight games schedule.

"Balik kami sa trabaho, i-review namin 'yung good and bad of this game against San Beda. Ang habol namin ay maka-recover 'yung mga bodies kasi nga dikit-dikit 'yung schedule kaya ngayon," said Alcantara.

"Sabi ko nga, tiwala ako na hanggang third unit kaya naman namin maglaro. Hopefully, 'yung recovery para sa Lyceum makuha nila."
