James Kwekuteye says San Beda out to make a statement this NCAA Season 98

San Beda University is out to make a statement in NCAA Season 98.

James Kwekuteye, one of the pillars of the Red Lions' program, said that they wanted to bring the winning culture back to the school after a series of recent heartbreaks, including an opening day loss.

And he's glad they showed that mentality in their lopsided 85-56 win against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday.

"The mindset was we keep pushing, we don't relax. We wanted to keep on showing everybody that we're San Beda and we want to make a statement," said the 24-year-old shooting guard.

"We just wanted to follow the game plan of what coach was saying earlier in the dugout and I give credit to my teammates, we executed right."

Kwekuteye led San Beda with an all-around outing of 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block.

Young guns Yukien Andrada and Tony Ynot also chipped in with 13 and 12 markers, respectively.

Kwekuteye, a Filipino-Canadian cager, added that the loss to Mapua was something that motivated them heading to the EAC encounter.

"We just wanted to prove something after our loss against Mapua."
