Days after its opening-day loss, San Beda University made it rain in San Juan City, firing 16 triples against Emilio Aguinaldo College to cruise to a lopsided 85-56 victory in the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
San Beda improved to 1-1 while EAC dropped to a winless 0-2 slate.
The Red Lions, who lost to Mapua University during their opener, buried eight three-pointers in the first quarter where they also held the Generals to just seven markers, 32-7.
Another three long bombs in the second quarter made it a 55-17 spread for the Mendiola crew as the host school managed to put up just four field goals to end the first half trailing by 38.
By the end of the first two periods, nine Red Lions had already made at least one triple with James Kwekuteye knocking down two of his four attempts.
The Red Lions cruised to the win in the second half, maintaining a good distance from the Generals.
San Beda will look to make it two wins in a row when it faces Lyceum of the Philippines University on Saturday while EAC will look to barge into the win column against Jose Rizal University on the same day.
