Four Letran Knights placed under health protocols ahead of NCAA Season 98 opener

In an unusual move, the opening day of the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament will not be featuring the defending champions.

This as back-to-back reigning titleholder Colegio de San Juan de Letran hit a snag early as four players have been placed under health and safety protocols ahead of the Season 98 opener this Saturday, September 10.

Letran was originally supposed to play host Emilio Aguinaldo College at 3:30 p.m. but due to the recent development, the league made a last-minute change with Arellano University replacing Letran in the opening day schedule.

Letran athletic director Fr. Vic Calvo shared to GMA News Online that the four players are now in isolation while saying that the team management has decided to return to a bubble setup to avoid a similar scenario in the future.

The three-peat seeking Knights will instead make their season debut on September 14 against Jose Rizal University at 12 p.m.
