The NCAA handed out the Season 97 Individual Awards prior to Game 2 of the NCAA Season 97 men's basketball finals between Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Mapua University on Sunday.

Rhenz Abando was the big winner of the night, taking home the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year awards.

He was also part of the Mythical Five alongside teammate Jeo Ambohot, Arellano's Justin Arana, San Sebastian's JM Calma, and College of Saint Benilde's Will Gozum.

Arana was also named Defensive Player of the Year while leading the six-person Best Defensive team composed of himself, Calma, Ambohot, Gozum, Emilio Aguinaldo College's Nat Cosejo, and Lyceum of the Philippines University's Omar Larupay.

Mapua University's Paolo Hernandez was also named Most Improved Player while University of Perpetual Help System DALTA won the Sportsmanship Award.
