Fran Yu is learning to embrace the role given to him by Colegio de San Juan de Letran head coach Bonnie Tan to be the team's leader rather than just be a scorer.
Yu, who was averaging 5.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 0.8 steals prior to their 83-62 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Wednesday, said he has accepted his new job, especially now that they already have other reliable scorers on their squad.
Tan said more than Yu's offensive capabilities, it is his voice on the court that matters most for the Knights as they eye to retain the title.
Yu said he looked back on his performances from their last games, where he committed a series of turnovers, something he regards as uncharacteristic for one of the team's leaders.
