EAC coach Oliver Bunyi on super guard Marwin Taywan: 'Siya 'yung alter ego ng coaches'

Emilio Agunialdo College (EAC) head coach Oliver Bunyi is so confident in Marwin Taywan that he's giving the do-it-all guard the go-signal to act as a coach inside the court.

Bunyi shared that they ordered Taywan to be more vocal to his teammates especially during games as they try to improve their 4-14 finish in Season 95.

"Marwin made a lot of adjustments, we told him that he should act like an alter ego of the coaches. He should be the one who should know what to do inside the court without us telling everyone what to do," said Bunyi as they picked up an 80-65 win over Jose Rizal University on Saturday.

"Siya na dapat 'yon, siya na 'yung coach sa loob. So he made that adjustment because last time he was not able to recognize 'yung mga dapat mabigyan ng bola."

Taywan lived up to the billing, finishing with a team-high 14 points, alongside five rebounds and five assists against the Heavy Bombers as they improved to 2-3 in the NCAA Season 97.

But Bunyi said with Taywan taking on the leadership role, their latest win was still a product of team effort as other cast members in Ralph Robin, Allen Liwag, and CJ Cadua made crucial baskets.

"Basically, we played as a team, as one unit. There was no selfishness and we were able to recognize who had the better shot so naseset up ng mga guards namin 'yung plays," Bunyi said.

"Nag-deliver sila according to what we have practiced for the last three days."
