Kim Aurin waxed hot as the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas defused the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 77-56, on Tuesday in their first game in the NCAA Season 97 at the St. Benilde Gym in La Salle Green Hills.
Aurin scored all 20 points of his total output in the first 24 minutes of action, including making four out of five attempts from beyond the arc just in the first quarter.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Altas. Behind Aurin's hot shooting en route to 14 points, Perpetual banked on a strong start, making a 9-0 run to start the game while limiting the Heavy Bombers to just nine points in the first quarter to lead by 17.
The lead further ballooned in the second half as the third quarter ended at 64-38 in Perpetual's favor.
On top of Aurin's game-high output, Jeff Egan listed 14 points on 5-for-6 (83%) shooting, while Jielo Razon added 13 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
John Delos Santos' 17 points and Jason Celis' 11 were spoiled in JRU's loss.
The Altas will see action on Friday against the San Sebastian Golden Stags, with JRU playing on the same day against the Mapua University Cardinals.
