NCAA Season 97 preview: San Sebastian ready to pick up pieces after exit of star scorers | NCAA Philippines

Key losses: Allyn Bulanadi, RK Ilagan
Key holdovers: JM Calma, Kenneth Villapando, Ichie Atlamirano
Season 95 record: 11-7, finished the eliminations 4th, lost to Letran in stepladder playoff

San Sebastian College-Recoletos didn't finish far from the title picture in NCAA Season 95, closing the eliminations with an 11-7 card to arrange a duel with the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the first round of stepladder semis.

The Stags, however, failed to move on to the next round as they fell to the eventual champions.

But as they bid goodbye to top scorers Allyn Bulanadi and RK Ilagan, who are both now carving their marks on the pro ranks, San Sebastian must now get ready to open a new chapter.

With their two Season 95 gunners gone, the Stags will be bannered by big man JM Calma and forward Kenneth Villapando along with a host of holdovers looking to step up to the plate.

Calma will be a crucial piece to their system, especially after being named to the Season 95 All-Defensive Team alongside the likes of San Beda's Calvin Oftana, Arellano's Justin Arana, Perpetual's Ben Adamos, and EAC's John Paul Maguliano.

Other returning players include Ichie Atlamirano, Michael Are, Rommel Calahat Jr., Ammar Cosari, Alex Desoyo Jr., Gelo Loristo, and Jessie Sumoda.

Joining them are new faces in Kendrick Abarquez, TJ Felebrico, Ralph Gabat, Reggz Gabat, James Una, and Cris Shanoda.

Leading the team into the future is seasoned head coach Egay Macaraya.

The NCAA Season 97 live games air every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday to Sunday at 12:00 NN on GTV with replays every Monday and Thursday at 3:00 PM on GTV.
