Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and other San Sebastian alumni talk about ‘family’ on ‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’

It's usually family that cheers a student-athlete on during games, but NCAA players find that they're able to find another set of family when playing the sport they love.

Two of the famous "Pinatubo Trio" in Calvin Abueva and Ian Sangalang visited 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' to share how deep their bond goes beyond the court.

The pair led San Sebastian College to an NCAA championship back in 2009. And now that they’re reunited in the PBA as the frontcourt duo for Magnolia, the former Stags said they’re thrilled to to try to lead a team to the throne as teammates.

Meanwhile, Kapuso actor and former San Sebastian basketball player Marco Alcaraz shared to host Martin Javier how an unfortunate injury during his college days led him to try his luck in showbiz--a move that paved the way for him to meet his wife and beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman.

Former Lady Stags’ star setter Bamcie Belen also recalled how she helped the team cop four-straight NCAA titles with veteran mentor Roger Gorayeb at the helm. She also shared how it was playing with her sister, who suited up as the team’s libero.

Watch GMA Synergy's 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' every weekday (2:45 p.m.), Saturdays (4:30 p.m.), and Sundays (5:05 p.m.) on GTV.
